When it comes to keeping our bodies healthy, the kidneys play a very important role. Our kidneys are responsible for filtering out waste and extra fluid from our bodies and helping to balance electrolytes and minerals. Unfortunately, when something goes wrong with the kidneys, we can be at risk for developing kidney disease. Kidney disease can lead to other health complications including high blood pressure, anemia, and even heart disease. Fortunately, there is much that we can do to support the health of our kidneys, including the use of a supplement known as CoQ10.

What is CoQ10? CoQ10 (also known as ubiquinone) is a compound found naturally in small amounts within many foods like meat, fish, nuts, and vegetables. It’s also made within the body where it helps create energy in cells throughout the body. CoQ10 has been shown to have powerful antioxidant activity which helps protect against oxidative stress caused by free radicals; these are molecules that can damage cells in our body leading to premature aging and other diseases like cancer or Alzheimer’s Disease. But what makes CoQ10 particularly beneficial for those with kidney disease is its ability to help improve energy production within tubules of the kidney where it’s needed most.

Studies have shown that taking CoQ10 supplements can help lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels which are often elevated in people with kidney disease. It has also been found to decrease oxidative stress by decreasing malondialdehyde – a marker measuring how much stress your cells are under – as well as improve blood pressure control resulting from increased nitric oxide production in the blood vessels leading them to relax rather than constrict. For those with type 2 diabetes mellitus or cardiovascular issues related to kidney disease, supplementation with CoQ10 may even improve endothelial function – meaning better functioning of cells lining your blood vessels – which could ultimately reduce risks associated with poor vascular health like stroke or heart attack. Finally, studies have also indicated that taking a daily dose of 200-300 mg of CoQ10 divided into three doses might even improve serum creatinine levels; these are markers used to measure how well your kidneys are functioning so if they’re higher than usual it means you may be experiencing some degree of renal failure or chronic kidney disease (CKD).

It’s important to note however that while studies have indicated that supplementing with CoQ10 may be beneficial for people suffering from CKD it should not take the place of any medication prescribed by your doctor nor should you stop taking any medications without first consulting your physician about possible side effects or risks associated with discontinuation use of certain drugs like beta-blockers for high blood pressure or anti-depressant drugs such as amitriptyline; warfarin, a blood thinner; chemotherapy medications; or HIV medications. Furthermore, one should always choose high-quality supplements when adding them into their daily regimen and take care not to overdo it on dosage – especially if you’re already taking certain drugs – otherwise, adverse reactions could occur so be sure to work closely with your holistic kidney specialist if you plan on incorporating this product into your daily routine!
